Tommy Reid and Kai Jennings are both in contention to go straight into the team ahead of Saturday’s trip to Wealdstone.

The two new recruits joined today on loan until January, Reid from Charlton Athletic and Jennings from AFC Wimbledon, and joined in with First Team training in order to prepare for the trip to Middlesex.

As a result, immediate debuts are a possibility, with the goalkeeper and midfielder both adding quality in depth to their new side.

The arrival of the former may have brought questions about Jack Sims’ progress in his recovery from the back injury which has kept him out since the end of September, but Chris Agutter assured this isn’t necessarily the case, with Sims set to miss the next few weeks.

“He had a scan beginning of the week and it depends on how he reacts to the treatment he’s getting; it could be another three weeks, it could be four weeks, it could be another week.

It’s such an important position, I think David Aziaya has done great but we need to make sure we have two senior goalkeepers available at the football club, we need to make sure that position os to the right level.”

The Head Coach also provided an update on Edon Pruti after he went off with a suspected broken nose on Tuesday night against West Ham United, as well as David Ogbonna, who missed out on the National League Cup game all together with a hamstring strain.

Both players will miss the trip to Wealdstone in order to avoid aggravating their respective injuries, but Agutter confirmed that while Saturday will come too soon, Ogbonna will definitely be back for the FA Cup First Round tite against AFC Telford United.

“Pruts wants to play at the weekend, but I’m not too keen on that” Agutter said.

“He’s a real warrior, great character, great personality, very very good footballer so he’ll be a miss, but what I don’t want to do is force him or rush him back on Saturday and then we lose him for longer-term.”

“I think David [Ogbonna] will be touch and go in terms of squad selection for Wealdstone, but he will 100% be back for the FA Cup game the following week.”

Furthermore, Alex Woodyard has returned to full training in his recovery from a knee injury, while Eduino Vaz is back in light training after picking up a MCL injury against Forest Green Rovers, and are both on course to make a full recovery sooner rather than later, though Saturday’s trip to Grosvenor Vale will again come too soon.
