Chris Agutter has provided an update on David Ogbonna, who had to be replaced at half time of Saturday’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Hartlepool United with a hamstring strain.

The forward trained ahead of the visit of West Ham United tomorrow and is set to undergo a late fitness check in regards to his availability for the National League Cup match, with the injury not as bad as first feared according to the Head Coach.

“David’s been superb I think” he said, “he’s been involved in a lot of our best bits, so to know that he isn’t a million miles away from it and to know that the injury wasn’t too serious is a real positive.”

Agutter otherwise said he won’t be rotating the squad for what is his first ever National League Cup match, and made his mentality clear ahead of the clash with the Hammers.

“We’re going to pick a team that we believe is best suited to win that game” he added. “If players aren’t in the side they need to get in the side and equally if players are currently in the side then they need to keep their shirt.”

“I like a tight-knit group, I’m a big believer in winning momentum; momentum in football in general, you can have losing momentum, and for us we’re on a mini unbeaten run, we don’t want to lose any momentum by rotating and resting people.

“We won’t be going into this game with an attitude which is anything other than how do we win this game with our strongest team possible.”
