SUTTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

Arrangements For Spectators With Disabilities

Sutton United FC welcomes disabled supporters and in line with the club’s equality policy disabled supporters have access to all facilities open to that of able bodied supporters where possible.

Admission

It is club policy, based on external advice, that all spectators should pay the full admission price appropriate to their age or in line with advertised concessions. However, should a disabled spectator require a companion, then that companion will be admitted free of charge.

To facilitate this, we recommend contacting tickets@suttonunited.net by email, or calling us on 0208 644 4440 to make the arrangements.

Car-Parking

There is no general admission to our car-park on matchdays. Disabled parking is available for blue badge holders, but should be booked in advance by emailing info@suttonunited.net giving as much notice as possible please.

As an alernative to parking at the ground, spectators with mobility difficulties can use bus route 413 which stops virtually outside the ground in Gander Green Lane. All London buses are accessible.

Reduced Mobility Spectators

For spectators who use wheelchairs, we provide a total of ten spaces (plus one carer per person). Currently these are temporary arrangements and we hope to have improved, permanent facilities available from the start of the 2023/24 season.

Home

Seven wheelchair spaces in a dedicated temporary structure, the Goodliffe Stand. This is along the park side of the stadium, at the ‘home end’ of the stadium and is a covered platform, raised about 1.5m above pitch level. To guarantee availability please book in advance by emailing info@suttonunited.net

Away

Three wheelchair spaces in a dedicated temporary structure. This is along the park side of the stadium, at the ‘away end’ of the stadium and is a covered shelter at pitch level. It is accessible from the away fans’ zone. To guarantee availability please book in advance by emailing info@suttonunited.net, and we would ask that this is done before buying your match ticket.

All wheelchair spaces have access to accessible toilets.

Non-Wheelchair Spaces

Unfortunately, we do not have any lifts in the stadium so to reach any of the seated areas necessitates climbing a few steps.

Spectators with Memory Difficulties

We are introducing a service we call the U’s Memories programme, an initiative which is intended to help people who might become disorientated if they lose contact with their friends or families or just get confused by the crowds and noise of matchday. U’s Memories consists of a support pack that contains:-

  • A wristband with the spectator’s seat number
  • A wristband that says “I may need help. Thank you”
  • A simple stadium map, with a guide to seat numbers and locations of toilets and snack bars.
  • A memory sheet, with prompts to start conversations about famous events in club history (can be tailored to the visiting club).

If you, or a friend or family member can experience memory loss or become disorientated and you think that a U’s Memories pack could be helpful, please email info@suttonunited.net for further details. This service is also available to away supporters on a match by match basis, please email us at least 48 hours before kick-off to make arrangements.

Commentary for People who are Visually Impaired

Unfortunately we cannot provide this service at this time but we are looking into our options and hope to have something in place soon.

Quiet/Sensory Room

We are not currently able to offer a dedicated quiet room, but we do hope to have something available from the start of the 2023/24 season.

Spectators who may have access requirements which are not covered above are invited to email info@suttonunited.net to discuss what we may be able to do to help.

Any spectator requiring further information regarding available facilities, or who may need particular attention or help on match-days, is welcome to contact the club in advance on 0208 644 4440 OR by email on info@suttonunited.net.
