Sutton United Women have been drawn away at AFC Wimbledon in the Capital Senior Cup Quarter-Final.

The U’s got off to a flying start to their campaign with an impressive 3-2 win over Actonians in the last round, beating a team who currently sit sixth in the league above after goals from Brianna Gilbert-Lawal, Ella Meehan and Milly Cutler saw Lucy Clark’s side race into a 3-0 lead before the hour-mark.

Despite late goals from the Greenford-based side, including a 90+7th minute penalty to set up a tense final few moments, Sutton managed to see out the 11 minutes of stoppage time to seal a superb victory over an Actonians side who play in the same division of the Women’s National League as the U’s FA Cup conquerors Chatham Town.

As a result, Sutton head into the last eight as the lowest ranked side left in the competition, and will be looking to cause an upset when they travel across South London to take on the highest ranked side, visiting Wimbledon after their 5-1 win over Enfield Town at Tooting & Mitcham United’s Imperial Fields, courtesy of goals from Alisha Buckingham, Kaylee Buckingham (2), Rosie Russell and Kelly-Jade Whelan.

The tie will be played on Sunday, 15th February.
