Darcy Wells put Sutton ahead with a fine strike, only for the Sussex side, who had won three of their previous four league games, to hit back with goals either side of half time. However Olivia Watson’s excellent goal brought things level, and another long range effort from Lily Dent, scoring her first goal for our first team, gave U’s a lead that would prove decisive.
To round off a good day, our reserves and Under 21s both made it two league wins out of two, the reserves 1-0 at home to Reigate in Collingwood Rec and the Under 21s 5-2 away to Old Tiffinians.
Next week sees the first team begin their FA Cup campaign away to Ashmount Leigh at Dorking Wanderers’ ground (please note that this replaces the scheduled home game against Enfield which was announced yesterday), while the reserves are away to AFC Acorns in Copthorne and the Under 21s are at home in Collingwood Rec to Richmond Park, the only other side in the Surrey Division One of the South East Counties League to have won both their opening games.
