Jordan Moore-Taylor has spoken of his excitement after completing a move to Sutton United, saying discussions with the manager made it clear the club is aiming high this season.

The experienced defender arrives with a wealth of EFL pedigree, having represented clubs including Exeter City, MK Dons and Forest Green Rovers across a long and successful career in the Football League.

“I’m delighted to be here,” he said.

“After speaking to the Gaffer and hearing what he wants to achieve next year, I got really excited by it.

“Hopefully we have a really good season.”

Looking back on his career so far, Jordan highlighted several standout achievements, including captaining his hometown club Exeter City at Wembley.

He also reflected on promotion success with MK Dons and Forest Green Rovers, both of which played major roles in his development.

“I think for different reasons there have been a few,” he said.

“Captaining Exeter at a young age, my hometown club, that was massive for me.

“Leading them out at Wembley was something special for the family as well.”

“Promotion at MK Dons and then winning League Two with Forest Green Rovers are probably the standout achievements,” he said.

At Exeter, Moore-Taylor wore the captain’s armband on multiple occasions and believes leadership is rooted in collective spirit rather than individual responsibility.

“You can only be a good leader with a good group around you,” he said.

“Everyone was together, pushing in the same direction, and everyone led in their own way.”

His promotion experiences at MK Dons and Forest Green were shaped by similar principles of unity and consistency, and he also admitted the latter promotion stood out slightly more personally after playing a key role in their success.

“Good togetherness, everyone pushing in the same direction every day,” he said.

“It’s what it takes to achieve promotion. I enjoyed that one more because I played a massive part in it.”

“The group was so close, we built it over two years.

“To go one better after coming close the season before was massive for everyone involved.”

Now stepping into the National League with Sutton, the defender believes consistency will be crucial if the club are to achieve their ambitions.

“Consistency is massive,” he said.

“When the pitches get heavy over the Christmas period, that’s when you have to battle, fight and grind out results.”
