Sutton United Football Club can confirm the departure of Jack Sims, who will exit Gander Green Lane following the conclusion of his contract on 1st July.
Sims has enjoyed a successful couple of seasons with the U’s since arriving in 2024, becoming a regular fixture in the Sutton side whilst establishing himself as a terrific shot stopper in between the sticks.
Having initially joined from Braintree Town, whom he spent two seasons with after a brief stint at Welling United, he originally had to bide his time behind Steve Arnold in the Sutton net – featuring once during the opening months of the season in a 3-1 FA Cup win at Chertsey Town – before finally nailed down the number one spot to end the 2024/25 campaign with 40 appearances in all competitions.
The former Canvey Island, Southend United and Blackpool product, who enjoyed loan spells at Skelmersdale United and Lancaster City prior to his permanent exit from Bloomfield Road, earned plaudits for his reflexes, reactions and penalty-saving ability as the U’s last line of defence, with his performances leading to him being named joint-Player of the Season alongside Lewis Simper.
Sims then followed this up with another string of superb displays in 2025/26, including notable stops away at Tamworth and FC Halifax Town, in all making 82 appearances in all competitions for Sutton across his two-year stay.
We would like to thank Jack for his efforts across his spell in South London and wish him all the best for the future.
Farewell, Simo!
