Sutton United Football Club can confirm the departure of Will Tizzard, who completes a move to Ebbsfleet United following the mutual termination of his contract.
Effective from 1st July, Tizzard returns to the National League South on a permanent basis after spending the backend of the 2025/26 campaign at Torquay United, joining a Fleet side who finished six places below the Gulls in ninth last term.
The defender originally joined Sutton from Scottish Championship side Queen’s Park, returning to England after two years across the border, whom he arrived from Southampton in 2023.
He went on to rack up 35 appearances in all competitions for the U’s, including 23 starts, and contributed at both ends of the pitch with some key performances at the back as well as a handful of crucial goals in the final third.
His most notable highlight came with his maiden strike in a Sutton shirt, finishing off a neat team move involving Lewis Simper and Ashley Nadesan to dramatically fire home the winner at the death in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round replay against Farnham Town.
Tizzard then followed this up with his second and third goals against Solihull Moors and York City – on both occasions giving the U’s the lead, before departing on loan for Torquay a month after the latter.
The Southampton academy product, who spent time on loan at Chippenham Town in 2022/23, returned to the South-West for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign in order to join the promotion-chasing Gulls, and after a brief stint under interim boss and English legend Neil Warnock, ended the season with newly appointed manager Jimmy Ball, who guided the Devon-based outfit to a third-place finish.
Having appeared 12 times for Torquay, he added a further two appearances in the play-offs as Ball’s side fell short to Hornchurch in the final, bringing a successful spell at Plainmoor to a disappointing close.
We would like to thank Will for his efforts during his stint at Gander Green Lane and wish him all the best for the future.
Good luck, Tizz!
