Sutton United Football Club can confirm the departure of George Vorster, who has completed a move to National League South side Slough Town on a permanent basis.

The Rebels, who finished 16th in the sixth tier last term, have already been active in the transfer market following Scott Davies’ exit for Aldershot Town, replacing their former boss with ex-Sutton goalkeeper Alan Julian in the Arbour Park dugout, and they have begun a new-look approach with Vorster the fourth player to make the switch to Berkshire this month following the arrivals of Keenan Quansah, Louis Walsh and Kyle Brooks.

The exciting forward initially joined the Sutton Colts at Under-11 level, before rising through the ranks to become a second-year scholar with the U’s ahead of the 2024/25 season. He followed up an impressive campaign out on loan by rising into Sutton’s Under-19 programme in the summer of 2025, having spent the bulk of the season at Ashford Town (Middlesex), being named the Tangerines’ Young Player of the Season after scoring nine goals for the club, bettered only by Jack Arnold’s 16 strikes, to end the campaign as their joint-second highest goalscorer.

Vorster then joined Burgess Hill Town on a short-term loan in August 2025, impressing at Leylands Park by scoring six goals in 19 appearances during the first half of the 2025/26 season, with his form in West Sussex earning him a breakout into Sutton’s first team under Chris Agutter.

He made his first competitive appearance off the bench in a 5-0 win over Guildford City in the Surrey Senior Cup First Round, before further inclusions saw him make his senior league debut with a cameo in the U’s memorable 4-2 win over Gateshead at the end of November.

This was followed up with his first start a few days later, playing 90 minutes as Sutton reached the Surrey Senior Cup Quarter-Final with a 2-1 triumph against AFC Croydon Athletic, and Agutter’s trust in the 18-year old continued when he was named on the bench on two further occasions come the start of 2026, including in the televised Emirates FA Cup Second Round tie against League Two outfit Shrewsbury Town, while also playing 81 minutes in the FA Trophy against Walton & Hersham.

He subsequently returned to Burgess Hill on loan until the end of the season, top scoring with 17 goals in 40 games for the Hillians, as well as scooping up a hat-trick of awards including the Players’ Player of the Year, Supporters’ Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.

Vorster now embarks on a new chapter in his career with the opportunity to become a part of Slough’s first team squad next term, and we are delighted to have played a part in his journey so far.

All the best for the future, George!
