Steve Morison

Steve Morison was appointed as Head Coach in January 2024, moving from Isthmian League Hornchurch, with the Essex-based club seven points clear at the top of the Premier Division when he left. The former striker enjoyed an extremely successful playing career which saw him compete at the highest level, and he went on to make nearly 700 senior appearances across a two decade-long career. After coming through the ranks at Northampton Town, Morison made his name in non-league with Bishop’s Stortford and subsequently earned a move to Stevenage, where he featured over 150 times over three years and notably scored the winning goal in the 2007 FA Trophy Final, before helping the Boro lift the trophy again two years in what proved to be his last game for the club. Having scored 86 times in 151 games during his spell in Hertfordshire, Morison was rewarded with a move to Millwall, enjoying a successful two years with the Lions before moving to Premier League side Norwich City in 2011. He went on to score 12 goals in the top flight and during this period also received a call-up to the Wales squad, representing the Dragons with 20 caps between 2010 and 2012, before moving on to Leeds United. He later returned to Millwall permanently following a loan spell in 2013/14, where he soon established himself as a club legend, going on to make half of his 700 career appearances for the Lions, scoring 92 goals which puts him third in the club’s all-time goalscoring charts, and notably scored the winning goal in the League One play-off final. His third stint at The Den came to an end in 2019 with a brief stint at Shrewsbury Town, before opting to hang up his boots and transition into coaching. He began his management career as Head Coach of Cardiff City’s Under-23’s, and later took both interim and permanent charge of the first team, before exiting the Welsh capital in 2022 after steering them clear of the relegation zone. Steve later dropped into the Isthmian League with a move to Hornchurch and guided the Urchins to the top of the division come January 2024, but departed after six months to join Sutton, with whom he signed a new deal with ahead of the 2024/25 season.
