Sutton earned themselves a direct route through to the Vanarama National League play-off semi finals, substitute Ross Lafayette (above) pouncing to score the winner eleven minutes from time after Shots keeper Lewis Ward had fumbled a low Josh Taylor shot and ensuring U’s would finish in third place. Tommy Wright, who received the Supporters’ Club Player of the Year award before the game and added the club Young Player of the Year award later in the evening, put U’s ahead four minutes in to the second half but Scott Rendell equalised from the penalty spot eight minutes later after Nicky Bailey had been adjudged to have fouled Shamir Fenelon.
