Sutton United Foundation, formed in 2018, is a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO), registered with and subject to the supervision of the Charity Commission. Whilst it is affiliated to the Sutton United Football Club, it is not part of SUFC Limited.
Every English Football League (“EFL”) club has an affiliated charitable entity, the main purpose of which is to operate for the benefit of its local community, particularly in the areas of sports participation and the education of children.
Currently, the Foundation has just two employees, together with a number of volunteers who provide coaching and related services. Under its Head of Foundation, Bobby Childs, it is expanding steadily and securing funding from a variety of sources.
The person who has been acting secretary of the Foundation for the last five years wishes to step down in order to spend more time overseas, and so a replacement is being sought for this unpaid, voluntary position.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
Administer six board meetings a year of the Trustees, preparing and circulating the agenda and other papers, taking notes at meetings and preparing comprehensive minutes of the proceedings.
Liaise on a regular basis with the Chair of the Trustees, the Head of Foundation and the other Trustees, giving advice and circulating information as required.
Ensure compliance with the EFL Trust’s Capability Code of Practice which contains over 200 standards covering areas such as Safeguarding, Governance, Finance, etc.
Be familiar with the rules and regulations affecting the Foundation, in particular the Foundation’s constitutional document and relevant parts of Charity Law.
Training and support will be provided for the successful applicant. If you are interested in volunteering for this role, please contact Bobby Childs at bobby.childs@suttonunited.net.
