Sutton’s season ended with a narrow defeat at Meadow Park as Leon Ayinde’s goal just before the half hour mark divided the sides.
Boreham Wood were the better side in the first half as a young Sutton side struggled to make an impression on a solid home defence, and the decisive goal came when Dan Urpens cut out a through ball but could only divert it to Ayinde who powered a shot home.
Sutton were much improved after the break and came close to an equaliser when half time substitute David Ogbonna hit the underside of the bar, but the home side, already assured of fourth place in the final table, held on.
