This season has been truly momentous and with one game left of the regular league campaign, we’ve already achieved our highest ever league placing in the football pyramid and guaranteed at least one more game, in the play-offs, with a chance for promotion to the Football League.
After Saturday’s game we’re inviting all U’s supporters and friends to come along and celebrate the club’s magnificent year as we host the end of season party. This annual event will see the presentation of the player of the season awards (Jamie Collins is seen below with last season’s award), goal of the season and much more.
Wendy and her catering team will be providing a fast food menu plus a chilli/curry to tickle your taste buds from the hatch in the players’ bar.
And this year we’re going ticketless for the evening. We’d appreciate if you can give us some space to set up a few things after the Aldershot match has finished, but feel free to enjoy a beer, buy yourself some food and listen to Bruce’s speech ahead of the awards, enjoy Adrian’s final draw in this season’s Strikers Are Key and of course stay tuned until Dos acts as auctioneer as we draw to a close.
The Aldershot game should be finished by 2.30pm and we’ll start the speeches around 4 to 4.30pm so the whole evening is done before it’s gets dark and you’ll still have “Valuable Drinking Time” – as the Gandermonium "crew" will appreciate.
Can we also stress that the evening is not just a celebration of the first team’s exploits as we’ll acknowledge the achievements of the whole club – the Sutton United family. With all members of our teams invited, you’ll be able to heap praise on the Under 18s who have topped their division during the season and the Academy side who stormed to the National League Under 19 Alliance (Division F) title by winning seventeen and drawing one of their eighteen league games to date (they travel to Leatherhead on Wednesday). You can congratulate the ladies’ team on a fine year in which they’re one win away from securing the title themselves and the community teams – who won’t all be there on the night though as they’re away, taking part in the FA People’s Cup final.
So, from the young (we’ve also recently seen wins in the league for the Under 10s and league cup for the Under 12s!) to the less young, male or female, player, supporter or official – we’d like to invite everyone for a Sutton United Family Gathering… #inittogther.
No ticket required and speeches start around 4 to 4.30pm. Free entry (buy your own food/drink at the bar). See you there.
