Getting to the Ground

Stadium Address:

Broughinge Road

Borehamwood

Hertfordshire

WD6 5AL

By Car

Boreham Wood FC is in close proximity to the M25, A1 and M1.

Head north from Sutton on the A232 toward Croydon and follow signs for the M25. Join the M25 anticlockwise toward Watford and continue until Junction 23, then take the A1(M) and A1 (Barnet Bypass) toward Borehamwood. Exit toward Borehamwood town centre and follow Shenley Road, then turn onto Broughinge Road, where Meadow Park stadium is located.

Alternatively, you can skip the motorway all together which takes up less miles. Head north from Sutton and join the A3 toward Kingston upon Thames. Continue until you reach Roehampton, then take the A306 through Putney and toward Wandsworth. Join the A205 (South Circular Road) and follow it west past Kew and Chiswick until you reach the A406 (North Circular Road). Follow the A406 north and then take the A40 toward Perivale, rejoining the A406 near Hanger Lane.

Continue on the A406 to Brent Cross, then take the A41 north toward Elstree. From there join the A1 toward Borehamwood, then follow signs for the town centre and turn onto Broughinge Road, where Meadow Park stadium is located.

Limited supporter parking is available at the Mangata Developments Stadium Meadow Park with the club car park prioritised for players, directors, officials and guests.

We advise supporters coming to the Stadium to park in Brook Road Public Car Park. Access to the Stadium is available from this car park via the South Stand Turnstiles (turnstiles 9 & 10 for visiting supporters) or via a public footpath through the adjacent park (turnstiles 1 to 6 for home supporters.) Please note that parking charges may apply.

Alternative parking is also available via the Hertsmere Council Civic Car Park, which is less than a 5-minute walk to ground. Again, please note parking charges may apply.

By Rail

While Boreham Wood can usually be reached directly from Sutton on the Thameslink, major engineering works taking place between Farringdon and Herne Hill/London Bridge on Saturday, 25th April means there are no trains running between Farringdon and London Bridge/Sutton.

There is a half-hourly service operating from Farringdon and St. Pancras International to Elstree & Borehamwood, and from Sutton the easiest way is to travel from Sutton to Victoria and then take the Victoria Line to King’s Cross/St Pancras. Trains to Elstree & Borehamwood leave at 29 and 59 minutes past the hour, taking half an hour. Return at 01 and 31 minutes past the hour.

From the station it is around a ten-minute walk to the ground – head straight down the high street on Shenley Road until you reach the Brook Road roundabout, turn left and head forward until you reach the Brook Road car park, which is where away supporters can enter from.

By Coach

The coach for our trip to Boreham Wood will depart from Gander Green Lane at 9am.

Tickets for this journey cost £20 (Return) or £15 (Single/U16), and the Supporters’ Club request supporters to meet at 9:15am.

Bookings can be taken via The Supporters’ Hub on matchdays or email suttonunitedcoachtravel@hotmail.com.

Any short notice changes will be highlighted on www.suttonunitedsupportersclub.co.uk.

Last Time We Met

After seeming at half time to be on course for a second consecutive home Enterprise National League win, Sutton ended up on the wrong end of the scoreline in an entertaining game of seven goals as Boreham Wood came back to score three times in the second half, Edon Pruti’s long range shot deep in stoppage time proving only a consolation.

Boreham Wood struck first as an incisive run from the impressive Érico Sousa ended as he played in the overlapping Jeff King, whose last involvement in a Sutton game was a red card after the final whistle at York in January, but who now featured in a far more positive role as he shot past Sims from an angle.

The game turned Sutton’s way in the last fifteen minutes of the first half, with a long throw cleared as far as Lewis Simper, whose cross was deflected by King on to the head of Jayden Harris at the far post for the midfielder to power the ball past Ashmore. Just before the break Simper was heavily involved again, brought down on the edge of the penalty area after a neat passing move, and when Harris touched the free kick in to his path, driving a shot that deflected past the helpless Ashmore.

The game started to slip away from U’s midway through the second half though when, moments after replacing King, Cameron Coxe produced a powerful run down the right and crossed low for Abdulmalik on the edge of the penalty area, who worked himself a shooting position and sent a low effort in to the corner of the net.

It was another substitute who made the impact for the goal that put the visitors in front, Lewis Stevenson having only just come on to the pitch when his first involvement was to be brought down by Wadham as he tried to turn past the Sutton midfielder in the penalty area. Zak Brunt just about converted the penalty, the ball hitting Sims’ right hand post and trickling in on the opposite side of the goal, but it was enough and the points seemed safe in the third minute of stoppage time when Sousa placed a shot beyond Sims from the edge of the penalty area having been set up by Matt Rush and Richardson.

Almost immediately Pruti let fly from thirty-five yards and sent the ball arrowing in to the bottom corner of the net to score for the second game in a row, but there was to be no dramatic equaliser.

Played for Both

Matt Rush

Matt Rush joined Boreham Wood after scoring a single goal for Sutton during his maiden campaign at Gander Green Lane, before firing the Wood back to the National League during the second half of the season.

A summer signing from Maidstone United, Rush came through the ranks at Southend United having joined as a 14-year old, and went on to make over 20 senior appearances in the Football League and National League for the Shrimpers.

Loan spells at Great Wakering Rovers, Harlow Town, Tonbridge Angels and Chelmsford City saw him gain senior experience alongside his development at Roots Hall, before moving across Essex permanently with a move to Braintree Town at the start of the 2022/23 season, with his goals helping them to the National League South play-offs.

Rush found himself at another Essex-based side ahead of the 2023/24 season though, joining Aveley, where he scored six goals in all competitions before being signed by Maidstone in November, where he scored ten goals in 19 games in the National League South to fire them to the play-offs.

Despite the Stones losing out at the final hurdle, Rush still found himself in the National League, albeit briefly, with a well-earned move to Sutton. He went on to score one goal in amber – the opener in a 3-1 win over Chertsey Town in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round, before returning to Maidstone on loan in November.

This would prove to be short-lived though, as he permanently exited South London just a month later when he made the switch to National League South rivals Boreham Wood, scoring 16 goals as the Wood reached the play-off final, where he played 90 minutes as they triumphed over his former club Maidstone to gain promotion last term, before going on to add another 18 this season.
