Sutton United Football Club is delighted to confirm that Alex Kirk has signed a contract extension, putting pen to paper on a new one-year deal with an option for a further year.
The former Arsenal man has agreed to an extended deal which potentially takes him through to 2028, having initially joined the U’s in October 2024.
After rising through the ranks at the Emirates Stadium, he spent loan spells away at Ayr United and Bromley, winning promotion to League Two with the latter, before departing the Gunners permanently to become a crucial part of Sutton’s backline, establishing himself as one of the team’s best performers to make 21 appearances in all competitions last term.
The defender briefly saw his progress restricted due to an LCL ligament injury, before recovering to score his first two goals for the club in a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest and a 4-3 defeat to Gateshead, though a back injury sustained in the latter has led to a far more extended period on the sidelines, causing him to miss the entire 2025/26 campaign despite a brief return during pre-season.
However, the 23-year old is aiming to return ahead of the new season, and has committed his short-term future with the club by agreeing an extension to his deal which was set to expire this summer.
Congratulations, Kirky!
