It was a particularly ebullient and high-spirited Players’ Bar which greeted the first two Strikers are Key draws of the new season after the tremendous 2-1 victory against Salford City!
We are grateful to celebrity guest Jeremy Vine, a great sport, who was making his first ever visit down the Lane, and quickly appreciated the happy mood in the room after such an exhilarating afternoon and conducted the two draws in a similarly fun fashion.
Here are the two results:
Draw 1 in respect of the match v Eastleigh – ball 44 was pulled out by Jeremy, owned by the syndicate "Last of the Summer Whine", comprising Mark Frake, Mark Kidd, Chris Vagg and Bob Budd. Sadly Kiddo was unable to pick out the right key, having to make do with the £50 consolation prize as a consequence.
Draw 2 following the Salford match – ball 27 came out of the velvet bag for the very first time, owned by club chairman, Bruce Elliott. He then went on to choose the right key (eventually), scooping the £450 booty along the way and then delighted the assembly by putting a big chunk of his winnings behind the bar to enable the Sutton faithful to continue their celebrations, after a terrific afternoon, well into Saturday evening!
Draw 3 is back in two weeks’ time after the match v AFC Fylde. Can’t wait!
