Sutton United are delighted to announce the signing of experienced central defender Jordan Moore-Taylor, who will officially join the Club on the 1st of July following the expiry of his contract with Forest Green Rovers.
The 32-year-old arrives at the VBS Community Stadium with a wealth of EFL experience, leadership qualities and a proven track record of success throughout his career.
A product of the Exeter City academy, Moore-Taylor made over 180 appearances for the Grecians and established himself as one of the club’s most dependable defenders. During his time at St James Park, he captained Exeter on numerous occasions and led the side at Wembley Stadium in both the 2017 and 2018 League Two Play-Off Finals.
Following his successful spell in Devon, Moore-Taylor joined MK Dons in 2018, reuniting with former Exeter manager Paul Tisdale. He played an important role as the club secured automatic promotion from League Two during the 2018/19 campaign.
In 2020, Moore-Taylor signed for Forest Green Rovers, where he would spend six seasons and become a highly respected figure both on and off the pitch. During his time at The New Lawn, he was appointed club captain and helped guide the club to the League Two championship in the 2021/22 season, the second promotion of his career. He made more than 160 league appearances for Forest Green and leaves the club having earned widespread recognition for his leadership, professionalism and commitment.
Moore-Taylor’s arrival adds significant experience to Chris Agutter’s squad, with the defender bringing leadership credentials, promotion-winning know-how and over a decade of experience in the EFL and National League.
After joining Sutton, Jordan :
‘I’m delighted to be here. After speaking to the gaffer, what he wants to achieve next year is something I got really excited by and hopefully we have a really good season.’
Chris Agutter added:
‘Proven, experienced, brilliant track record of winning, and a brilliant character-leader…..no secret we needed to strengthen defensively and that is exactly what Jordy will help with, he will have a huge influence on stopping the ball going in our net whilst also giving us a great platform to build the attack from.’
Everyone at Sutton United would like to welcome Jordan to the Club and wishes him every success in amber and chocolate.
