Jake Taylor is touch and go ahead of tomorrow’s Enterprise National League clash with Truro City (Saturday March 21, 3pm KO), and will be assessed in the build-up to the visit of the Tinners.
The midfielder made way for Dan Urpens’ impressive league debut on Tyneside, going off before half time having previously missed three games after suffering a concussion against Yeovil Town.
A new, unrelated issue arose with his hamstring in the North-East though, with Chris Agutter unwilling to risk losing him longer term, and thus Truro is likely to be too soon for his return.
The Head Coach did confirm that the visit to his former club Eastleigh on Tuesday night is a far more realistic target though, with Taylor expected to be back next week.
On a more positive note, Besart Topallaj is back in contention to appear against Truro tomorrow afternoon.
The Kosovan remained at home for family reasons on Saturday due to the birth of his child, but could return to the side as Sutton prepare to take on the Tinners.
Aaron Jones (knee), Jack Wadham (knee) and Alex Kirk (back) all remain in the U’s treatment room, but have all stepped up their recoveries from their respective longer-term injuries.
