Omari, who is 27, has joined us after turning down a new contract at League One Carlisle United, having scored The Cumbrians’ equaliser in the League Two play-off final at Wembley against Stockport to send the game to extra time and subsequent penalties, which Carlisle won 5-4 to earn promotion. He was in his second spell at Brunton Park, having originally joined in January 2020 but then spent the first half of the following season with Burton Albion.
Born in Slough, Omari began his career with Beaconsfield SYCOB and played for Kidderminster, Barnsley and Bradford City before first joining Carlisle.
Matt said: ”I’m delighted to have Omari on board. He’s a player I’ve admired for a number of seasons, and after scoring at Wembley and getting promoted with Carlisle things haven’t worked out for him there. He lives very close to our training ground, so to move him back home and have him in our squad is a good move for us and him, as I think he’s aplayer that will suit us and we’ll suit him, and I look forward to working with him.
Omari was at Tuesday’s friendly at Woking and gave his first interview to Sutton United FCtv which can be seen below.
We offer Omari a big welcome to the club.
