Sutton returned to the top of the Vanarama National League with a 3-2 win at home to Barrow. After Moses Emmanuel had hit the post inside the first two minutes U’s went ahead when a free kick from Aswad Thomas eluded everyone to end up in the corner of the net. Having posed little threat, Barrow levelled six minutes before the break through Byron Harrison’s penalty, but two goals in three minutes early in the second half from Josh Taylor and Emmanuel swung the game Sutton’s way. Harrison scored again to reduce the arrears just after the hour mark but Sutton held on and would have won by more but for fine saves by Joel Dixon from Taylor and Craig Eastmond, whose late booking means he will miss next Saturday’s trip to Wrexham through suspension.
