We are pleased to announce that we have been able to strengthen the board of Sutton United Football Club Ltd with two new “signings”.
The first of these will need little introduction. Former player Dominic Feltham was something of a cult figure with U’s fans during the 1990s, as much for his silky smooth style as his prolific goalscoring. Dominic was playing for SUFC and in parallel building a successful business career with Reed Business Information, also based in Sutton.
“I am delighted to welcome Dominic onto the board”, said Company Chairman Dave Farebrother. “We have known each other for a long time and he has been acting as an adviser to the board for the last two or three years. He has been very successful within the global Reed Elsevier (now RELX Group) business where he has held senior appointments in 3 of their global divisions. His expertise and experience will considerably strengthen the board and all of the directors look forward to working with him.”
As well as bringing his all-round business acumen to the table, Dominic will be supporting Bobby Childs in relation to the commercial model for the 3G pitch and helping with the development of the SUFC Academy. “Joining and playing for SUFC was an incredible honour”, said Dominic. “The club has played an important role in my life and I look forward now to helping SUFC continue on its tremendously successful path. I’m sure we have exciting opportunities ahead and I look forward to working with the rest of the board to deliver an experience for the fans, players and everyone associated with the club of which we can all be proud.”
The second new director is Christian Fassetta. Born in Milan and a fan of the “Rossoneri”, Christian is a much-travelled and experienced businessman who will bring a new range of skills and insights to the board. “Christian has only been following us for about two years” said Dave, “But his enthusiasm is infectious and he is driven to succeed in whatever he does. We have grown rapidly as a business, turning over around £1.5 million, and I am confident that both Christian and Dominic have much to bring to the table.”
Christian, who is also an international volleyball referee, added “I am very much delighted to join the Board of Sutton United. Since the first match I saw at Gander Green Lane, I have been impressed with the work done by the directors. They are passionate fans and professionals that have dedicated so much time and energy to bring the team to such a high level of competition. Now, I look forward to providing my contribution during this time of change and challenges.”
