News at Ten - Ross joins Kenny at U's

12 May 2017

Paul Doswell has made his second signing of the day, securing the services of striker Ross Lafayette. The 31-year-old was with Dover last season, scoring twelve goals, and previously had a prolific two year spell at Welling,  scoring 19 goals as they won the Conference South championship in 2013 and almost matching that total in the National League the following season, earning a move in to the Football League with Luton. He also played for Eastleigh before joining Dover at the start of last season.Paul was understandably delighted to capture another of his four main summer targets. "Ross was excellent for Dover last season and was a great foil for Ricky Miller. He's a strong target man who also contributes plenty of goals as well as great hold-up play and assists. He will provide the team with a different option and the thought of Max Biamou or Adam Coombes playing alongside him is an exciting prospect. We felt we needed more quality and competition in the most important part of the pitch, and we've got that with Ross"Ross commented " Once I knew Paul was interested in me coming to Sutton it was a very easy decision to make. The last two seasons have been brilliant for the club and listening to the gaffer's plans for the future and his enthusiasm for the project really made my mind up. He has a very clear role for me to play in the team, and with the quality of the squad already in place I'm really looking forward to joining up for the new season."
