Community Team Hosts Charlton Upbeats

Saturday saw the first ever match between the Sutton United Community Team and the Charlton Upbeats, for the Smith and Byford Community Cup, and what an occasion it was !The Charlton Upbeats - having been Downs Sydrome Champions National Champions 7 times out of the last 8 years - outclassed last year's FA People's Cup finalists, Sutton United.  The game ended 6-3 to the Charlton Upbeats with Hunters' goals being scored by Hannah Lawrence, Nick West and Anthony Carter.Charlton are presented with the trophy by Sarah from HuntersHead of Disability Football Steve King said "This is what disability football is about. We are very grateful to Terry for bringing his inspirational Charlton team to Sutton United. Terry has already invited us to play a return game next year at The Valley, before a Charlton Athletic League 1 home game.”  King added: “Disability football is not all about winning and losing but about camaraderie, community relations, and lasting friendships.”
