Welcome Back, Jason

22 June 2019

We are pleased to reveal that our former player Jason Goodliffe is joining the club as Assistant Manager.

Jason will need little introduction to U's fans, having joined the U's in the summer of 2009 as a dominating centre-half.   After leaving Brentford aged 18, Jason made over 300 appearances for Hayes before spending six years with Stevenage, helping them achieve Football League status in 2010 and promotion into League One the following year. After a spell on loan at York City, Jason played for Rushden & Diamonds and AFC Wimbledon before turning up at Gander Green Lane, his spell with us seeing him play 57 games and score four goals before being curtailed by the injury that brought his playing career to an end in autumn 2010.

A new career beckoned in coaching, initially at Boreham Wood and then as Assistant Manager to Dave Anderson at Harrow Borough.  In May 2013 Jason joined the coaching staff at League Two Stevenage.

"I am delighted to bring Jason into what is already a great group of staff." said Manager Matt Gray.  "He is someone I have known for a long time and he was the only person I wanted to bring in with me for my first managerial job.His wealth of experience as a player and coach at this level and above will be invaluable to both me and the club.  I am really looking forward to working with Jason, the staff and the players when we are back in for pre-season on Tuesday."
