Strikers Are Key - Double Header

2 March 2019

Following the hugely entertaining 2-2 draw with Hartlepool United, the two Strkers are Key draws which took place after it proved no less eventful!

With the fund swelled to £1,050 after recent displays of parsimony, the safe was duly cracked by club Treasurer, Rob Oakes, whose ball 30 was pulled from the purple velvet bag leading him to go on and chose the correct key and open the safe. Rob made himself the most popular man in town by putting a generous £600 behind the bar for the patrons to all have a drink. Well done and grateful thanks to Rob. A top gesture.

The second draw of the day, with £300 in the safe following Roarie Deacon's and Gime Toure's goals against the Pools, saw ball 33 emerge, owned by David Mathers and Keith Creasey. In their absence Rob stayed on the SAK stage but was unable to repeat the success of the first draw, winning the pair the £50 consolation as a result of not selecting the right key on their behalf.

It all means we have a minimum of £500 in the safe for the first of two draws to be made in a fortnight's time after the match v Gateshead, when the draws in respect of the matches v Braintree and our Tyneside visitors will be made.

See you then!
