SUWFC Support St Helier NHS

5 May 2020

Last week the players of our Women's 1st Team and the youth players in the girls' team all took part in the Run 5k donate £5 NHS charity initiative.

The response was brilliant with all the players taking part, they raised a brilliant total of £755 which was used to buy some gifts and treats for the A&E and Red Zone wards at St Helier Hospital.

Head of Women & Girls Football Duncan Muller explained further, “We decided that we wanted to actually give stuff to the staff at St Helier rather than donating to the charity. The response from the players has been amazing, one of our U14's Bethany Lewis raised £115 on her own. We are really thankful for everything Jo and the rest of the staff at St Helier have done and continue to do for us.”

As well as lots of drinks, cakes, sweets and other items the money was used to get the staff a hi-tech Bluetooth system to play some uplifting music in their staff room.

Girls Youth secretary Joanne Mitchell, who works in A&E at St Helier, would like to thank everyone on behalf of her colleagues at the NHS.

Pictures include Duncan Muller, 1st Team manager, along with Courtney Bartlett, U21's manager, who visited the team at St Helier A&E last Sunday.
