Sutton romped to a 6-0 win in this morning’s practice game against Brighton’s Under-23 team at Lancing.
David Ajiboye (above) opened the scoring in the 8th when he ran on to Richie Bennett’s pass and slipped the ball past the goalkeeper, and after Harry Beautyman had seen a penalty saved following a foul on Will Randall, Brighton had a goal disallowed as a free kick was headed across goal and bundled in. Moments later Ajiboye scored again, this time collecting a Kenny Davis pass and producing a neat finish, and Randall made it 3-0 seven minutes before half time with another good solo effort, his shot from just outside the penalty area taking a deflection to loop over the keeper, who could only help it in to the net.
Joe Kizzi appeared for the first time this pre-season, and was one of three players replaced at half time, with the rest of the team changing after an hour, with most of those who had played the first hour at Haringey playing the last half hour here. Soon after the switches had been made Alistair Smith received a poor clearance from the keeper and lifted it back in to the net, and six minutes later some fine work by Ben Wyatt ended in a cross which was laid off by Omar Bugiel and finished by Donovan Wilson. Ben Goodliffe rounded off the scoring with a powerful header from Ricky Korboa’s corner.
