Donovan Wilson makes move from Bath permanent

11 June 2021

We're delighted to announce that Donovan Wilson has signed for us on a permanent basis following his successful loan spell from Bath City during the last three months of the season. Donovan signed on loan at the beginning of March and made his debut as a substitute in the televised game at home to Wrexham, scoring his first goal a week later at King's Lynn and following this up with the winner at Chesterfield. By the end of the season he had seven goals to his name in sixteen appearances (below, scoring against Aldershot at the beginning of May), third in the scorers' charts behind Isaac Olaofe and Harry Beautyman, and played a key role in the successful finish to the season.

Manager Matt Gray is delighted to have secured Donovan's services on a permanent basis, and said: ''I'd like to thank Bath City and Jerry Gill for their co-operation over the last three months, firstly with the loan signing and now in making Donovan's move permanent. They have been a pleasure to deal with. We knew when Donovan joined us on loan that we had a top player, and he showed that with the number of crucial goals he scored in the championship run-in. We're absolutely delighted to have him now as a permanent signing, and we're looking forward to him scoring more goals in the EFL''

Donovan said of his move: ''Firstly I want to thank Jerry and Bath for getting me back enjoying my football again and playing week in, week out. Also for their professionalism in everything that they do, and lastly for how they handled the situation with me going on loan. They've been great all the way through it and I appreciate it a lot.
I'm absolutely buzzing to finally get it done and signed. Everyone at Sutton has made me feel welcome right from the second I got here. For me it was an easy decision as I've enjoyed my time here massively and after speaking with the gaffer it was a move I knew was right for me. It's been an unbelievable start to my time at Sutton, with getting promoted and helping to create history I couldn't ask for much more.''
