U's draw home Carabao Cup tie - date confirmed

26 June 2023

Sutton will be at home in the Carabao Cup for the first time having been drawn at home to League One Cambridge United, with the tie confirmed for Tuesday 8 August, kick off 7.45pm.

It will be the first competitive meeting at Sutton between the sides, although Sutton did visit the Abbey Stadium in November 2017 when Cambridge won an FA Cup first round tie 1-0.

Cambridge avoided relegation to League Two on the last day of the season last season, and their best performance in the League Cup came in the 1992-93 season when they were beaten in the quarter finals by Blackburn Rovers. Last season they knocked Championship side Millwall out in the first round at the Abbey Stadium but went out in the second round at home to Southampton.

Sutton will be looking to progress past the first round for the first time after defeats at Cardiff and MK Dons in the two previous seasons.

Ticket details will be announced nearer the day of the game.
